Orchestra Auditions

You are here

Monday, August 24: violin/viola

Tuesday, August 25: cello/bass

Auditions will be held during the first week of classes for string players (wind and percussion auditions are assigned by their respective studios).

In order to audition, please sign up on the wiki: https://wiki.uiowa.edu/display/music/Orchestra+Audition+sign-up

Please print out the Audition Form and bring it with you to your audition. Auditions will take place in the Music West. Each audition will be 7 minutes in length and will include a short excerpt of a concerto, sonata, or etude of your choice, a three-octave scale, and sight-reading. For more information about the orchestras or the audition, please visit the University of Iowa orchestra website:

For those who do not care to audition and would like to continue playing their string instrument while studying at the University, you are invited to attend the All-University String Orchestra (025:162). No audition is required and registration may be done independently. This unique experience includes students from diverse academic pursuits throughout the university.
