5/2: How Polarity Yields Five Codes of Music - A Syzygy with S/Z. Presentation 1: From Polarity to Plurality
Professor Matthew Arndt emcees the first of seven presentations of an intergalactic music poetics. Drawing together ancient wisdom and modern science, this poetics aims at transmuting one’s experience of everything as music and living joyfully even as we work confidently toward an abundant future.
There will be a première screening of a video episode produced by Rabalais Productions with artisan animation by Auden Lincoln-Vogel. The program then features three works by Professor Jean-François Charles.
The first is for trombone and live electronics, performed by Professor Jonathan Allen and Professor Charles. The second is an improvised piece for sētar, live electronics, and spoken word, featuring Ramin Roshandel, Professor Charles, and Jhe Russell, AKA Rawzen. And the third, a première, is for saxophone and fire (using a so-called Rubens tube), performed by Professor Kenneth Tse.
