Auditions for Fall 2021 Entry
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, auditions for Fall 2021 entry will take place online. There will be no in person audition. Audition requirements by area can be found in the Future Students section.

Apply to the UI School of Music via the supplemental application within the University of Iowa application (link above).
- There is no application fee.
- Completed applications and auditions must be submitted by February 1. Applicants must apply and be admitted to the University of Iowa before applying to the School of Music.
One letter of recommendation is required
This letter should be written by either a private instructor or the student's Band/Choral/Orchestral Conductor. It should include the student's name and reference how the letter writer knows of the student's musical abilities and any other pertinent information. The letter may be mailed directly to the School (93 East Burlington Street, Iowa City, IA 52242), or letter writer may email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.

To begin the application process, select your degree program and follow the application instructions listed. There are two sections to the graduate application: 1) General information and fee payment, and 2) Departmental section which includes uploading supporting documents. Prospective graduate students seeking financial assistance are required to submit completed applications no later than January 4, 2021.
