Undergraduate Viola Auditions

Christine Rutledge works with a student.

**All auditions for fall 2021 admission will be conducted virtually**

For general information and to register for an audition, please see Undergraduate Auditions.

Applicants are required to fill out the Music Supplemental Application. This application will also serve as your audition. The form will allow students to submit video links of their audition materials. 

Viola applications should submit one 20 minute recording. Memorization not required. 

  1. 1 major and 1 minor scale in 3-octaves; Quarter note = 60. Eighth notes, slurring four notes at a time. 
  2. One etude from the standard viola etude repertoire. Can include those by Mazas, Kreutzer, Dont, Campagnoli, Bruni, Uhl, Lillian Fuchs.
  3. 1 or 2 movements from Bach's Cello Suites or the Sonatas & Partitas for solo violin.
  4. 1 or 2 movements from a concerto and/or solo work (scored with piano or solo viola) that clearly represent(s) the current level of your playing.
