Why did you pursue this certificate?

I pursued this certificate because as a Master's student, I have had the opportunity to teach undergraduates. As a Graduate TA, this experience has been incredibly valuable to my craft as a teacher, and validates the experience I have accumulated here.  

What have you learned from the certificate program? What's your favorite part?

I have learned the importance of interactivity in collegiate level classes. This program really supports student-driven learning experiences, and has helped me to devise teaching strategies and assessments that help students create agency in their learning.  

How has the program prepared you for your future career and goals?

This program has given me teaching experience outside of just Music Education, with opportunities in Educational Psychology and Music Theory. The certificate allows you to personalize the experience to your interests, so I was able to engage with multiple subject areas. This will help bolster my undergraduate teaching experience, and set me apart from other teachers who hold Master's degrees. I love teaching middle school, but I will be able to apply for jobs that range from that age all the way through undergraduates!

I have felt very supported by the program, and have enjoyed the experience it has provided me with!
