Cello auditions

For general information and to register for an audition, please see Undergraduate Auditions.

The requirements are three contrasting works, such as:

  • Study or etude such as Popper etudes
  • One movement of a concerto or sonata
  • One or two movements of a Bach suite

If you cannot audition during the School of Music's annual audition day, please contact Anthony Arnone to make alternate arrangements.

Audition requirements should include four contrasting works, such as: 

  • Advanced etude or study such as Popper or Piatti
  • Orchestral excerpts
  • Two contrasting works of a standard concerto
  • Sonata or solo cello work, preferably 20th century
  • Three contrasting movements of a Bach suite

A live Zoom Graduate Audition can be requested through correspondence with the instructor.
