No technical requirements, but you are welcome to perform additional music—such as excerpts, concertos, and chamber music—and we can discuss such topics as reed making, scales, and sight reading.

The audition will be in a lesson format with a full duration of 60 minutes.

• Three contrasting selections that best demonstrate your artistry and technical ability. One of the selections should be a movement from a standard concerto (e.g. Mozart, Strauss, Higdon, Krommer, Goossens, Vaughan Williams, Gipps), one should be a movement from a sonata or other work with piano (no accompaniment required for the audition), and one should be a work for solo oboe. Choose works that best demonstrate your abilities and interests, and select works that represent a variety of eras and styles.
• 3-4 contrasting standard orchestral excerpts
