UI Symphony Orchestra with Gabriel Kahane

A concert bringing composers and musicians together.

The University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra will perform music by Hancher’s composer-in-residence Gabriel Kahane—and Kahane himself will join the ensemble. In addition, composer Lowell Liebermann will be in attendance to experience the U.S. premiere of his Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra Op. 142, written for and performed by UI Professor of Saxophone, Dr. Kenneth Tse.

Three of history’s greatest composers come back for a chat about music and more. The Classical Style follows Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn as they return to earth to discover the current music scene. Full of inside jokes about music theory and musicology, the zany one act opera will be presented in an intimate black box setting.
