The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences awarded seven graduate assistantships to doctoral students in writing, editing, community engagement, and marketing. These positions, part of a five-year pilot project, provide doctoral students unique opportunities to participate in the college’s outreach, engagement, and writing missions in ways designed to diversify and transform graduate career preparation.

Dr. Sam Young was hired this spring as Assistant Professor of Theory/Composition in the UI School of Music. He joined the University of Iowa in 2021 as a visiting assistant professor. Before he began composing and teaching, he enjoyed a successful career as a professional drummer, performing and recording with national touring bands Devotchka and the Samples.
