24 + 24 Composers Concert showcased original music by UI students

The 24 + 24 Composers Concert returned to the Voxman Music Building Concert Hall on September 13, featuring nine original pieces written and rehearsed by UI composer-performer duos within a single 48-hour window. Organized by the Iowa Society of Composers Student Chapter, the annual event pairs composers and musicians at random, giving them just 24 hours to write and 24 hours to learn each piece — a format faculty and students say sparks spontaneity and forges early-semester creative partnerships that often continue for years.
